CM: A reward and altered summer plans – Kalulu’s big impact forces reflections

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli and the club’s management have been left convinced by Pierre Kalulu’s performances at centre-back and it may change the plans for the summer window.

Calciomercato.com report how Kalulu is experiencing a dream 2022 so far, making the choice made of Paolo Maldini not to sign a centre-back in the January transfer window look like the right one, and also changing some of the priorities in view of next summer.

The performances of the 21-year-old have been so good that Milan is planning to reward him with the extension of his current contract. The contacts have already begun and at the moment it feels as though there is no doubt that a renewal will come.

Regarding the rest of the department, the departure of Romagnoli is practically certain and in his place the Rossoneri want to bring in Sven Botman, but the calm necessary for the return of Simon Kjaer means Milan will not hurry to further expand the department with a further signing regardless of Matteo Gabbia’s potential loan exit.

Kalulu is precisely the reason, because he gives total guarantees and is also ready to climb the hierarchy. Tomori, Kalulu, Kjaer and possibly Botman: that seems to be the defence that the leaders have in mind.
