CM: Krunic an added resource in Milan’s Scudetto push as renewal idea gathers steam

By Oliver Fisher -

Rade Krunic continues to show his value to head coach Stefano Pioli and his AC Milan team-mates, and the idea of a renewal is taking shape.

Calciomercato.com reports how Pioli’s words after the win against Atalanta on Sunday shows how much esteem he has for the Bosnian: “Players like him are the luck of the coaches.”

In recent weeks he has become an additional resource for Milan in the Scudetto battle, after coming on as a substitute against Fiorentina, playing well as a starter in Verona and then making the tackle that led to the second goal against La Dea in the last round.

Pioli’s temptation now is to back the former Empoli man once again in view of Sunday’s game against Sassuolo in which a draw or a win are required to capture the Scudetto, so maximum focus and effort are needed.

The Milan management are evaluating a longer-term future with the 28-year-old as the idea of a renewal is gathering momentum. The hypothesis is to extend the current contract expiry date of 2024 until 2026 to reward the midfielder’s consistency since his arrival.

However, any talks will not take place until after Sunday’s decisive game, one that will be a defining moment in the club’s recent history.
