AC Milan’s assistant coach Marco Landucci believes that there was an element of bad luck about the defeat to Parma, taking a positive view on the performance.
Milan had a number of chances to make the night a bit more routine, but they spurned them and they were made to pay with 10 minutes left. Parma defender Troilo headed in a corner that was initially disallowed for a foul but then given following a VAR review.

The end result was a 1-0 defeat in front of a sold out San Siro, which means the unbeaten streak comes to a close on 24 games. With Inter now 10 points clear at the top, attention turns to a battle for a Champions League spot rather than the Scudetto.

Landucci spoke to Sky after the final whistle to give his thoughts on what was a frustrating night for his side, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.
How do you feel after a game like that?
“What do we think… We’re not happy, Parma played a great game. Today the ball wouldn’t go in. We have to think about getting back on Tuesday. We’re disappointed because we wanted the three points: we’ve had so many positive results, but now we’re starting again.”
Was it just a media notion that you could keep up with Inter?
“The team are disappointed: we tried to cheer them up. We mustn’t focus on others but on our own path, getting as many points as possible. We must focus on our goal, which is to return to the Champions League.”
Is it possible to have an aggressive attitude in the first half as well as in the second?
“We think this team has earned a lot of points with this attitude. Then, when you don’t score and get a result, everything you do is wrong. I think the attitude was the right one. Parma were very good, aggressive on every ball. We were unlucky too, but that’s football.”
Why do Milan struggle against lower sides?
“The Italian league is very tough: every match has its pitfalls and it’s very evenly matched. I think it’s the toughest in the world. Tonight we tried to do our best and we didn’t succeed.
“We’ll restart on Tuesday and think about the next match. There are games that don’t go so well. Today Gabbia got hurt in the warm-up, Loftus-Cheek did too. It was a bit of an unusual evening.”

It’s true that Parma had most of their players back defending, but, our gameplay wasn’t it, so also, our attitude. We didn’t get serious until we conceded – same old, same old. Some players are giving it their all from kickoff, while some keep playing in a lackadaisical way, believing there’s still so much time to get the job done, later. Estupinan has to go at the end of the season. Bartesaghi needs to improve on his crossing, and aerial duels when we concede corner kicks. Even though the fans a win, the result is another wake up to everyone. The lesson is: ‘don’t get carried away; this team is not good enough’.

Such embarrassing excuses for Milan’s game not only against Parma but against so many other teams. With a lot of luck we are in second place for now. Let’s be realistic, without players like Modric or Rabiot this team led with an embarrassing tactic by this dinosaur Allegri, we would have been in 8-10th place at the moment. At this point I’m not sure we’ll get a place in the CL if our luck runs out by the end of the championship.
