L’Arena: Milan want to beat Atalanta to Hellas Verona star – Caldara could be a counterpart

AC Milan want to sign defender Matteo Lovato from Hellas Verona and may have an advantage over Atalanta in the race to land him, a report claims.

As reported by L’Arena (via MilanLive), Hellas Verona are interested in the Rossoneri defender Mattia Caldara and their director Tony D’Amico could accept him as a counterpart in the negotiation that would bring Lovato to Milan. A cash sum would also be needed to convince the Gialloblu, however.

As per the report, Verona signed him from Padua a year and a half ago for €1m and now his value is around €10m after a season in which he made 24 league appearances and earned linked with a number to top clubs.

Atalanta also want Lovato though as the Nerazzurri will not buy Caldara outright and are considering other profiles for the role, so Percassi’s club could offer an interesting young player like winger Ruggeri to try and beat Milan’s competition.
