Le Parisien: Milan wanted to sign goalkeeper from Sevilla before PSG completed €6m deal

AC Milan and Lazio both wanted to sign goalkeeper Sergio Rico during the last summer window, a report claims.

Sergio Rico, 27, is the current deputy to Keylor Navas at PSG and is a goalkeeper who has won three Europa Leagues with Sevilla. However, the Ligue 1 side are well stocked in that department with Alexandre Letellier (30) and the Italian Denis Franchi (18) also in the squad.

According to Le Parisien (via MilanLive), Milan wanted to try and sign Rico last summer as he was only on loan from Sevilla to PSG during the 2019-20 season, but the Parisian club decided to exercise their option to buy set at €6m.

Navas played a decisive role in confirming Rico, who had also received proposals from Milan and Lazio. The two Italian clubs were then the protagonists of an operation that involved Pepe Reina, and then the Rossoneri replaced Reina with Ciprian Tatarusanu.

In view of the upcoming summer window it is possible that Milan will again find themselves having to take on a goalkeeper, be it a deputy or – in the worst case – a replacement for Donnarumma.
