It has not been Rafael Leao’s finest summer and his latest words have caused even more criticism to arrive for the AC Milan winger.
At the start of the summer, Milan fans were subjected to the Portuguese star stating that he wanted to leave the club. As an isolated incident, it was frustrating and wrong, but potentially salvageable. However, when two other interviews with similar statements were released, it closed a door.

Indeed, the Rossoneri are now quite happy to see him leave this summer and are actively hoping that he leaves the club with assessments underway for his replacement. Unfortunately, though, there is a lack of interest from clubs that he has eyed.
This could mean he remains for another season.
Leao faces backlash… again
Now, Leao is back in the spotlight again, but it is not the Diavolo who have been the target of his comments. Instead, he made a sexist comment on his private Instagram account (@Imjus.tbeingme) about the World Cup now that it has finished, as relayed by MilanXtra on X.
“GIRLS, world cup is finished. Now u can stop acting like u understand football”
He later added a follow-up on the same Instagram account, stating, ‘stop taking this Instagram too serious guys’. An attempt to lessen the damage which has already been done. It’s not been a great summer for Leao’s PR, that much is certain.

Leao crashout wasn’t on my bingo card
Who the hell is this guys pr manager??
@Imjus.tbeingme 😏
Silly thing to say nowadays I guess but man these snowflakes….
So you’re okay with secism?
Secism? Totally. Sexism? No….
You know what I meant. It’s not snowflake to condemn sexism.
The question isn’t if women are as good as men, he’s saying basically that women don’t understand the game.
Dude is crashing out just like how he crashed out in the world cup. Time for him to depart. We need to take what we can get. Because it won’t get any better after this.
After what? It’s nonsense. It is like saying Leaos ancestors aren’t Portugese but from Africa. It is the truth….
Oh well, that’s Chelsea Ladies out of the picture…
Oh well, that’s a move to the WPL out of the question..
LMAO.
Aston Villa in the PL could have been a potential landing spot but I just saw they have bid for Chelsea’s Garnacho.
Oh well. Could be Turkey or Saudi.
Garnacho? It’s now reach the point that Garnacho is wanted more then Leão. Leão is staying at ACM as few good teams want him. If he stays, he has to play or his worth will continue to drop. Now, where is ACM going to get the money for all the buys they want to do? I see that ACM has put a ridiculous value on Pulisic. Nobody will pay what they are asking but it says to me he can be bought. Where else is the money coming from?
Recently there was talk how most of French national team are African players. And people started saying how that is racist. How is that racist? What, having eyes and stating the obvious truth is racist? It is racist to pretend otherwise.
This is not that dissimilar, but he definitely put it together a bit wrong. There are women that play football and play for Milan, same as him. It is disrespectful towards women like that. For the rest…
Yes, it is not funny, and yes, it is sexist. It assumes that “girls” can’t understand football because of their gender. Absolutely, it is sexist.
If Rafa is now trying to sell this as simply a joke, well, at the very least, it’s a sexist joke, and not remotely funny.
Yup 👏
I thought if he intended “girls” as a put-down at emotional or “crying” critics, using “girls” as an insult to imply lack of knowledge (… and removing all Milan references from his social media – probably he’s not in the best state of mind atm) – STILL – even as a methapor… it is sexist and didn’t go down well.
Gosh, used to like him a lot, what has happened to Rafa…
