SM: Loftus-Cheek suffers new injury setback as flexor issue persists – the latest

AC Milan don’t seem to be able to go a week without picking up a new injury issue, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be sidelined again.

After returning to the field in the second half of the Supercoppa Italiana final on Monday night, we have learned that Loftus-Cheek suffered a relapse yesterday and will not be available for the match against Cagliari tomorrow.

Conceiçao confirmed this in his pre-match press conference, stating: “There’s a small problem with Ruben, he won’t be there for the match tomorrow. He had a relapse yesterday, I’m sorry because he was growing physically.”

The midfielder will be re-evaluated in about a week due to the worsening of the problem with his right thigh flexors. That means he will miss the games against Cagliari and Como, but also almost certainly the trip to Juventus, with other matches this month clearly at risk too.

It is not the news that Loftus-Cheek or Conceicao wanted. The former Chelsea man has already had a testing season due to physical issues and not being in the best form, but the change in coach had provided a clean slate and a chance to show what he can do, perhaps in a new 4-3-3 system.

  1. Same story with his time at Chelsea

Bright period at first then a long and consistent injury record which made him lose his place in Chelsea first team then later got loaned…..

Am never the kind of person who give up on players but I have to admit that this guy has lost it (both physically, mentally, and even in his present performance you can see that he has lost confidence in himself).I guess its best to let him go when suitors come for him

  2. At present he’s at best only English Championship level.
All his injuries have slowed him down, and he was pretty slow to begin with

  3. Let him go. He will never be able to break out. Even if he manages to break out, what good would it do for him at 29 years old?

  4. In this season Milan is stuck. You can’t sell injured one. But from next season, evaluation for this player player, Bennacer, is necessary. We can’t lose our roster due to their injury prone physicality . Either sell or send somewhere on loan.
Florenzi definitely must go. Calabria with him. Ita best to think about possible swap for Emerson as well and start again with creating of strong team.

  5. First time I’m actually sad for dude because I believe he can do extremely well under our current coach. Let’s hope he recovers at Gattuso recovery speed

      1. I also think we should move on, simply because we have to carry on and can’t just keep someone who is hardly available on the payroll, but I feel bad for him.

      2. 😕

Btw That’s me saying that and I was never one of his big admirers but I just have a feeling he’ll do well with a coach that likes a steely midfield.
The way I see him was for a sub as a double pivot but both Fonsy and Pioli preferred more guile in midfield rather than bulldozers.
We can’t have only 3 transfers work out of 17+ in the last 2 years now can we? 🤦‍♂️
Even the ones that sort of worked out last year (Okafor, Jovic) we’re ditching them ☹️

  6. he suppose to be the muscle of Milan & unfortunetely that’s the only thing he has,
we sign him for his physical atributes, he’s injury prone is just contardictive w/ why we sign him.. so sell is must..
