LQ: Pioli’s consistent tinkering angers onlookers as Milan underwhelm

By Euan Burns -

Stefano Pioli’s regular changes to his starting eleven are causing anger among those who follow the team with the Atalanta loss being the latest example.

As is claimed by a report from Libero Quotidiano (via Pianeta Milan), the Rossoneri coach did not need to have Theo Hernandez and Alessandro Florenzi consistently swapping positions during the 3-2 defeat against La Dea, which seemed to be a tactical decision.

It is no secret that Pioli is having to deal with a lot of injuries this season which means he is not able to land on the perfect formula, but the report suggests he could have found more consistency even under these circumstances.

With Fikayo Tomori the only fit centre-back at the club, choosing a back four has not been easy and it showed against Atalanta.

The pressure seems to be mounting on the coach and another poor display against Newcastle on Wednesday night could prove fatal.

    1. He simply does not have the courage to change, he should have used the 3 serie’a matches we had to blood Bartaseraghi in the centre of defence , or used him as left back with Theo in the middle, instead he kept on using old and decrypt Florenzi who is a burden to the team, we need a young coach right now…

  1. It’s been obvious for a while that he ran out of ideas. Bad enough he refused to acknowledge his tactics were the problem. Time for change

  2. Totally clueless. With the defense already pieced together and people playing out of position you would think at least to try and be a solid, compact defensive approach would be the way to go. Instead Pioli makes it worse by having guys constantly swapping positions and moving all around the pitch trying to cover for each other. Can you get it any more wrong than he did?

  3. Bloody funny that in an article relating to the failure to settle on a line up the comments are attacking Pioli for not tinkering more.
