MN: Lukaku the latest idea for Milan amid Napoli dispute as Allegri’s admiration remains

AC Milan know that the biggest piece they must add to the squad in the summer is a top striker, and the casting remains open.

According to MilanNews, the management are evaluating several profiles to give Massimiliano Allegri with a well-rounded centre-forward, one who can guarantee goals and hit the ground running ahead of a probable return to playing in European competitions.

Dreams and ideas

The dream is Dusan Vlahovic, a name Milan are continuing to pursue even though Juventus are cautiously optimistic about a contract extension until 2028. The casting call is already strong and suggests a clear line: experience, impact in the penalty area and tactical compatibility.

Vlahovic is undoubtedly the strongest temptation for Allegri and Milan, but also the most complex because of costs and the aforementioned renewal talks. For this reason, the Rossoneri directors are keeping several alternatives alive.

Allegri likes Santiago Castro, even though Bologna want €40m. Mateo Retegui is another idea and in in recent days, there have been direct contacts between Igli Tare and his agent, but the issue of his salary remains the main obstacle to a possible return to Serie A.

Moise Kean’s name is obviously also on the list as well, but the €62m release clause – which can be activated between 1st and 15th July – weighs heavily and makes the operation very financially challenging.

Amid all this, there are two highly intriguing prospects. The first concerns Robert Lewandowski, whose contract with Barcelona expires in June. The Pole is more of an opportunity that Milan could capitalise on, but everything will depend on the ex-Bayern star, who hasn’t yet decided on his future.

The second is a surprise name: Romelu Lukaku. Like Lewandowski, he is more of a suggestion rather than a concrete negotiation at present, but shouldn’t be ruled out outright. The Belgian is going through difficult times in Naples, and the esteem Allegri has always had for him could provide a twist.
