William Saliba is having a fantastic start to the season with Arsenal after AC Milan made an attempt to sign him in the summer, a report claims.
In his newsletter for CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano starts by talking about how Saliba can become ‘one of the best defenders in the world’ in the next few years after a fantastic campaign on loan with Marseille in 2021-22 during which he ‘was their best player’ and helped them into the Champions League.
Arsenal paid €30m for him when he was 19 years old knowing he would need time to be ready for Premier League level, but now his value is already at €60-70m or even €80m, not that the Gunners would consider selling.
Marseille tried to keep him beyond the summer and with his agent, but for Arsenal there was no chance of a discussion. In addition, Milan ‘looked at Saliba as an alternative to Sven Botman’ who ended up joining Newcastle United.
However, Paolo Maldini did not get very far in talks as he very quickly found out that Saliba was and is ‘untouchable to Arsenal’.
Just shows that players from Premier League are way overpriced he was two years in France they were asking for 30 millions now after he played eight games they say is value is 80 millions what a joke!
This claim is not supported by any material evidence, in fact its always players coming to EPL which are overpriced in my view. Your Lukaku, Anthony, Martinez, Nunez, etc, are just a few examples. Tommy Abraham was sold by Chelsea for around €35m, just after 1 season he is said to be worth €80m plus. That is what overvalued is. Saliba was bought for €30m some 3 seasons ago and his value went up last season already whilst on loan with OM. In my view he is worth that much or even more,considering how much the likes of Fofana and Martinez cost, and they are nowhere near the quality Saliba has.
Premier league are always hyping their players, most especially England players.

No, no. He had a fantastic season last year and is a full international for a top national team… Different.
Makes sense. If Wesley Fofana went to Chelsea for 82 mil euros, Saliba should at least be worth that. Saliba was in France National Team while Fofana played for U-21s. Like real estate…gotta find the comps.
