Tuttosport: Maldini ready to explore a deal for Asensio again – Real Madrid’s stance

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could try and open negotiations with Real Madrid over Marco Asensio but it is unlikely to be an easy discussion, according to a report.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), there may be something more to the fact that Asensio’s girlfriend has published a photo of the couple in front of the Milan Cathedral as the couple spent a couple of days of vacation in the city.

Paolo Maldini has long been a big admirer of Asensio and has already tried to bring him to Milan in previous transfer windows, and a new attempt could be made this summer, given his contract with Real Madrid will expire in 2023.

The Milan management will meet with Los Blancos to talk about the loan of Brahim Diaz and during this summit the name of Asensio could well be brought up, as he could be sold if he does not renew given he will be one year from expiry.

The 26-year-old has 33 appearances this season of which 18 were as a starter, with 10 goals and an assist to his name. He seems to have overtaken Rodrygo in the pecking order but does not appear to be considered unsellable, although it must be said that his €5.5m net salary is too high for the Rossoneri and he would have to take a pay cut.
