Pedulla: Maldini curious about potential Zaniolo deal and is willing to pay €40m

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini has taken a strong liking to Nicolò Zaniolo and could launch a move this summer, a report claims.

Alfredo Pedulla writes that there have so far been no indications of progress regarding the renewal of his contract expiring in 2024 which means Roma’s owners the Friekdins could legitimately decide anything, including accepting offers worth €50m plus bonuses to reach €60m.

That seems like a difficult amount for any club to spend because Juventus are only willing to offer €40m and in the meantime are in talks over a deal for Angel Di Maria who has a contract expiring with Paris Saint-Germain.

If Milan change owners then it will put the Rossoneri in a position to make other investments than those planned such as Divock Origi, Sven Botman and potentially Renato Sanches. Pedulla adds that Paolo Maldini has a curiosity mixed with liking when it comes to Zaniolo and would happily pay €40m which an enlarged budget would allow him to try.
