Real Madrid face a dilemma regarding the future of Milan target Martin Odegaard, a report claims, due to a logjam in their midfield.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Real Sociedad where he has been hugely impressive, amassing a combined 15 goals and assists for them this season in all competitions.
Recently, Tuttosport reported that Odegaard is a player prospective new manager Ralf Rangnick would love to work with at Milan, due to the face he can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder or on either wing.
The paper stated thatReal Madrid could cut short his loan at Sociedad (until 2021) in order to sell this summer, but in doing so they want to recoup €40million, a figure that Milan are not inclined to spend. However, if the Norwegian pushed to leave Madrid, the Rossoneri could manage to obtain a loan with option to buy.
According to the latest from Marca, Odegaard looked destined for a place in the Real Madrid first team next season, but now the chances of him doing so have been ‘practically ruled out’.
Los Blancos are now ‘prioritising player sales’ with Fede Valverde, Casemiro and Toni Kroos the only three midfielders guaranteed of a stay, but Luka Modric and Isco are also ahead of Odegaard.
Real Sociedad are ‘growing increasingly anxious’ over whether they’ll be able to keep Odegaard for the 2020-21 campaign as per the terms of their loan, but Real Madrid’s ‘confidence in the player is total’ which boosts their confidence of keeping him.
However, based on the report, it seems the door may have cracked open for Milan slightly.
