Slovan Bratislava’s chief scout has confirmed that AC Milan made an offer to sign their talented young winger Nino Marcelli.
Other than Juraj Kucka turning out against his former club, one of the sub-plots to last night’s game in Slovakia became Marcelli. In the build-up it emerged that he is a target for Milan and that a bid had even been rejected for the 19-year-old.
If Marcelli saw last night as an audition of sorts, it would be fair to say that he passed it. He came off the bench in the second half and scored a goal in the 88th minute with a rocket of a finish into the top corner, making it a nervy ending in the process.
In the post-match interviews, the Slovakian club’s Head of International Relations and Scouting – Róbert Vittek – spoke about the negotiations with Milan for Marcelli and the reason why the offer was rejected.
“Kirovski tried personally for Marcelli. The offer was a fixed sum with many bonuses linked to the games played. The total was the amount we wanted, but we wanted something straight away and then the next part,” he said (via MilanNews).
Given his goal and lively performance off the bench, we will now see if another offer is made. The fact that Jovan Kirovski was the one who made the bid suggests it is an operation more for Milan Futuro, given he is the sporting director for that side.
The guy scores a goal vs Milan in the Champions League & you want to demote him to the youth squad and ruin his career?
Guys like this needs to be bought & start playing in the main team. Look at Atalanta.
Isn’t that what happened with Gauge and look how that turned out. He didn’t even start yesterday so how much time do you think he would get on the field with Milan’s first team?
Jens Peter Hauge, not Gauge (autocorrect)
If he wouldn’t get any time, then there is no point for him signing for a club that won’t give him time.
At this age you have to play week in week out, not rot in reserves. Milan need to change their policy. Otherwise we will keep getting “developed” players like Emerson, Bakayoko, Ballo-Toure & Origi.
I agree with you about playing time but that is what the youth League is for. He is only 19 and the Youth League is for under-20s so it makes sense for him to pay there or for the Milan Futuro. It is about consistency and developing and those two youth teams are not a bad place to start. We put too much pressure on youths to develop quickly and play in first teams and rarely does that work out.
No way this dude is still a teenager.😂
I was thinking the same thing. Lol.
if a team has exp players mature pro players then players like him can stay and play in the first team tho he will not play too much games if he plays well he can take over so relax just dont put him as a starter if you are not sure but still have him and training rn fonseca needs to put them on to play more min than 5 or 10 to actually help players rest or not get injure from all these games
but it is a bad look if u sign players just because they scored against you also for CAM you can bring maldini and adli back and not put morata there and use musah reijnders as CM and see how benna gonna play and if hes not the same sell him and try bring ricci or someone that has the same quality maybe someone like florentino louis
it is a bad look because there isnt much thought on why u should buy him
You can see his goal,, rocket with left footed. I think this guy have something special…
Yh but it’s one time how they play against other teams this was one game. You can’t say for one game yh let’s sign him asap he will go and spend his time in primavera not even in futuro side . Also they said no to 5m so yh he isn’t worth more money. If it is the case then buy assane diao from real betis then
