One of the consequences of a poor season is the devaluation of players, and that applies to AC Milan after a dire 2024-25.

One thing is certain for Milan: a big improvement is needed after the season that just ended, one that saw the Rossoneri finish eighth in the league table, lose the Coppa Italia final to Bologna and get dumped out of the Champions League by Feyenoord.

The latest Transfermarkt values

According to Transfermarkt, the market values of 14 Milan players has gone down over the past season. The most striking cases are Santiago Gimenez (down €7m to €30m) and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (down €6m to €10m). Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez and Joao Felix – who has returned to Chelsea – all saw their values decline by €5m.

By contrast, only three players saw their market values increase off the back of last season, and two of them will not be here next season. Tijjani Reijnders went from €50m to €60m, Alex Jimenez from €10m to €15m and Luka Jovic from €2.5m to €4.5m.

The priority mission for Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri, before any new signings arrive, must be to raise the levels of the players already in the squad whose growth has perhaps stagnated.

  1. My God. Who would have thought that if you don’t win, your value goes down?!

Oh yeah, me. I predicted all of this. A few others on here did as well.

Based on that, maybe Cardinale should hire us as consultants?

    🤣
