Mediaset: Donnarumma closing in on new deal – the player wants to become a Milan icon

AC Milan are closing in on agreeing a new deal with Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to a report, with the player adamant about staying.

Milan are believed to be moving well in advance to avoid the risk of letting the situation roll into the month of January, when the 21-year-old would be free to sign a pre-contract with a club abroad.

According to SportMediaset (via MilanNews), Milan are at work to secure the renewal of their prized young shot stopper by extending his deal for a couple more seasons, until 2023.

Donnarumma for his part has never been in doubt about remaining at the club as he wants to become the symbol of the Rossoneri.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.it) reported on Tuesday that Milan are ready to offer Gigio a deal until 2023 with a basic salary that would be less than the current €6million net, but which could also exceed that figure with bonuses.

They added that there is the possibility of a release clause being inserted in the case Milan do not get back into the Champions League. This clause could only be valid for the last year of the contract, or could be activated immediately.
