Mediaset: Milan begin talks over Atletico Madrid forward with loan formula possible

AC Milan have once again been forced to change major targets this summer after Marcus Thuram has opted to join Inter, and talks are underway over an alternative.

According to SportMediaset (via PianetaMilan), the Rossoneri management have begun informal talks over Alvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid, who could leave the club this summer despite rumours of a renewal being close.

Morata knows Serie A well having played for Juventus in two separate two-year periods (2014-2016 and 2020-2022), so he could welcome a return to Italy and he is a profile that wouldn’t take much adaptation.

The renewal of his contract would also allow Milan to take advantage of a loan formula, perhaps with an option or obligation to linked to appearances and/or results, to close the deal with Los Colchoneros.

The 30-year-old scored 13 goals in LaLiga last season and 15 across all competitions with three assists in 45 total appearances, but does not seem to be a big part of Diego Simeone’s plans.

  1. These people are a joke and know nothing about football. Baseball is not Football. I urge fans to boycott this circus. Say goodbye to a top 4 finish.

  2. I actually hate these owners. Morita is a terrible striker that needs about 20 chances to score. He isn’t going to get 20 chances a game with whatever cheap average playmaker these owners sign.

    1. 20 isn’t enough for this guy. More like 30-40. With the playmakers Milan has, I’d predict he’d score roughly the same as CDK. Or maybe half of Origi’s magnificent goal tally.

    2. I don’t know what you’re talking about. His main strengths are similar to Thuram. Tall, can play, doesn’t score a lot, can hold up the ball, find teammates. I wouldn’t sign him, but he isn’t that different from Thuram…

Why is there a “but” in this sentence? Of course he isn’t in his plans, it says right there why. Giroud level of goal contribution, goodbye!

  4. Morata would likely do better than Giroud with Leao as the supplier, but this is so out of the left field. Hope this is just hot air. We’re being linked with anyone and everyone now.

    1. He wouldn’t. Did you start watching football this year? He has played with some world class players in multiple teams, he never scored a lot. I don’t think he got to 20 goals in a season in his whole career. He isn’t that type of a striker. The thing is that it was good 10 years ago, but today standards have gone up. You have to be good in build up and a teamplayer + score goals. Morata has only first part of that.

  5. I saw dude miss so many chances and played trash in those UEFA nations league matches smh
🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️Lol. Welp I’m running out of kernels now 🍿

    1. It’s him or Lukaku haha. And who can miss more or ruin more chances for their teammates is a big big battle.😂😂😂😂😂

  6. Morata, like Lukaku, is an absolute joke and anyone who would consider signing either of them is a joke as well. Morata belongs in the second division.
