Soualiho Meite believes that he can bring some valuable experience to AC Milan as he heaped praise on his new club.
Milan announced the signing of the Frenchman on Friday night on an initial loan deal, which includes a buy-out option. The Frenchman, who joins from Torino, is an important reinforcement for a midfield department which has been decimated by selection problems already this season.
Meite made his debut during Monday night’s win over Cagliari, coming on as a substitute and showing some positive signs despite his limited runout.
The 26-year-old was interviewed by Sky Italia and spoke about joining the Rossoneri, playing with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and what the coach asks of his players.
“Being at Milan with this team, with this strong group, with this ranking is a great pleasure. We cannot be afraid of Inter or Napoli. They have strong players, but we must continue to have confidence and keep going as we have done until now,” he said (via MilanNews).
On Ibrahimovic, he added: “With Ibra I saw that even when we play the bull to have fun if we don’t do the exercise well he raises his voice and then we immediately resume doing it well. You feel that there is something more inside the team. There are many young people, who are calm and enjoy life, Ibra instead says how things should be done and everyone listens and it is important ”.
During his unveiling at a press conference earlier today, Meite revealed that he is a big fan of the way Pioli likes to play, something he elaborated on to Sky.
“The coach asks for a lot of intensity and for me it’s normal, you win a match in midfield. If the midfield is yours, it is easier to control the game,” he said.
“It’s normal for me, as a midfielder, to give intensity and run because that’s where we play. At Milan you run a lot and play a lot, you touch the ball a lot and it’s a good thing. Milan are a team that has a lot of ball and when you have to press you go straight to 100% because you are fresh.
“There is a way to play that I am delighted with. Now I’m 26, I’m no longer a kid, I have the experience. There are many young players and also many experienced players, it is important that we all go in the same direction.”
