Mundo Deportivo: Mendes as work as Milan and Barcelona retain interest in Real Madrid man

AC Milan remain interested in signing Marco Asensio if his contract at Real Madrid is allowed to run out, according to a report.

Mundo Deportivo writes how Asensio’s contract with Real Madrid will end on June 30 and with less than three days to go before January arrives, nothing has been signed or agreed regarding a potential extension.

Starting next week, the forward is free to start listening to any club that wishes to put forward an offer. Both he and his agent, Jorge Mendes, will have to analyse what the best opportunities are for him.

Real Madrid will closely follow all of Asensio’s performances and it cannot be fully excluded that they offer a renewal, but FC Barcelona are keen on signing him and the Spain international has never fully closed the door on what would be a controversial switch.

Meanwhile, Milan have also not given up on landing the 29-year-old with technical director Paolo Maldini a self-confessed admirer of Real Madrid’s number 11.

Asensio for his part has never hidden that his desire is to continue in the Real Madrid but it remains to be seen if an offer is forthcoming from Los Blancos. If not, it will be time to explore other possibilities.
