SempreMilan’s columnist Vito Angele reviews AC Milan’s transfer market, as it closed yesterday evening.
Market closes – Milan left empty-handed
The transfer market has ended, with Milan signing no players. This was an agreed decision between Fassone, Mirabelli and Gattuso. However, in the end, there was the possibility to sign Deulofeu on a dry loan, which Milan perhaps surprisingly decided not to pounce on.
In terms of sales, the Rossoneri offloaded three players. Gabriel, who’s joined Empoli on loan until June. Zanellato, who was sent to Crotone on loan with a €300K obligation to buy, and Gabriel Paletta who terminated his contract with Milan. However, the San Siro side failed to sell Mauri, as no offers were received for the former Parma man.
Meanwhile, the negotiations for Gustavo Gomez still continue. The transfer market in Argentina is still open and Boca will try to snatch the former Lanus defender. The last proposal of the
Argentinian side revealed a slight rise: €5.5m.
Exclusive – What to expect in July?
Much will depend on the possible qualification for the Champions League. In that case, an extra budget of €100m would be at Milan’s disposal. However, without Champions League, the Rossoneri would have to but to sell. It’s possible that Donnarumma or Suso could leave this summer.
Milan will invest in a strong midfielder. Vidal likes this idea, but his potential arrival depends on UCL qualification. On the wing, Milan have set their sights on Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt.
Finally, up front, Benzema or Cavani is plausible for those who dream, while Belotti remains the most realistic target.
AC Milan looking at free agents
Milan are also thinking about a few players that could arrive for free. The first, and the most appetizing is Schalke 04’s midfielder Max Meyer. However, it would not be an easy race, as Arsenal and Barcelona are interested in him.
The arrival of Agustin Rogel, Uruguayan defender born in 1997, is easier. The Rossoneri have blocked the Nacional defender during the week and in the coming days, they will decide whether to close this operation or not.
Juventus’ Asamoah is also a possibility, should Mirabelli decide to sign a backup for Rodriguez. Then we’ll most likely say goodbye to Antonelli.
