Messaggero: Key AS Roma player expected to miss clash with Milan

By Euan Burns -

AS Roma defender Chris Smalling is expected to miss next week’s game against AC Milan thanks to the injury that he suffered in the Europa League against Feyenoord, a report claims.

As has been reported by Il Messaggero (via Milan News), Jose Mourinho could find himself with a selection headache in defence when his side hosts AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico next weekend.

The match will be huge in the context of both teams trying to qualify for the Champions League. Smalling has been a key player for Roma this season and his absence will surely be felt by the Giallorossi.

The Englishman was taken off with an injury in the Europa League quarter-final victory over Feyenoord on Thursday night and he seems set to miss at least a chunk of games, which will include the one against Milan.

Mourinho will likely need to start with Marash Kumbulla in defence as he is the natural replacement.
