AC Milan winger Junior Messias has insisted that the team’s preparation for the match against Salernitana was right, but the execution wasn’t there.
The Brazilian got the opening goal after less than 10 minutes and it looked like it would settle the nerves, but the home side struck back through Bonazzoli and Djuric to flip the game on its head, though Rebic struck back to earn a point.
Messias spoke to the microphones of Milan TV at the end of game to reflect on a frustrating, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.
“In my opinion the approach to the match was right, otherwise we wouldn’t have scored so soon but we had to close it. We looked for the goal in the end but we didn’t succeed,” he said.
“Now we have to play every game as if it were the last, as if it were a final. It’s always nice to have the fans around, it’s always a positive feeling.”
