CM: Milan forward’s future still to be written – Pioli’s thoughts and Maldini’s inclination

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan may try and renegotiate the figures they agreed with Crotone over the summer as part of the Junior Messias deal, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com reports how after a difficult start due to injuries and a period of acclimatisation, Stefano Pioli is picking Messias to play continuously and clearly considers him to be the alternative to Alexis Saelemaekers on the right wing, and the starter in some cases.

The Rossoneri coach has two different resources to use depending on the opponent and while Messias knows that there is still a long way to go to before he earns enough trust for Milan to trigger their option to buy, things are at least heading the right way.

The 30-year-old arrived on a loan from Crotone for €2.6m with option set at €5.4m plus bonuses, and at the moment Milan are oriented towards exercising their opportunity to make the deal permanent.

However, a final decision will only be made in the spring when Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will have a more precise picture of their plans for the future, and they will then organise a meeting with Crotone during which it cannot be ruled out that the directors try to re-discuss the figures agreed in the summer.
