CM: Messias playing for his Milan future in the next two months – Maldini’s strategy

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have got a decision to make on the future of Junior Messias given that they have an option to buy at the end of the season.

Messias arrived on deadline day from Crotone and has made 23 appearances so far, scoring 5 goals including a winner in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid. He has started 7 of the last 9 games, seemingly showing that he has jumped above Alexis Saelemaekers in the pecking order.

As Calciomercato.com write, Messias has to raise the bar if he wants to stay with the Rossoneri and he needs to improve the level of his performances and find consistency. He is playing for his future in the next two months and must convince the club to buy him permanently.

The terms of the deal with Crotone are as follows: a €2.6m loan with option to buy set at €5.4m plus bonuses, but it is not excluded that the Rossoneri could ask for a discount. Paolo Maldini will talk about the issue with the other executives to find a common strategy.

No decision will be made until the end of the season, when it will be possible to evaluate the performance of a player who will turn 31 in May.
