AC Milan are currently unlikely to spend the money needed to turn Sergino Dest’s loan spell from Barcelona into a permanent deal, a report claims.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) published a report this morning looking back at the various additions that arrived at Milanello over the course of the summer, and Dest’s situation came into view as part of it.
As per the terms of the agreement struck with Barcelona last summer, it will cost Milan €20m in order to turn his loan deal into a permanent signing, which is not an insignificant sum given he only arrived due to Alessandro Florenzi’s long-term injury.
At the moment, it seems ‘unthinkable’ that the Rossoneri management will agree to pay such a sum, not only for economic reasons given the restricted budget that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are working with, but also because of the unconvincing performances offered by the player.

Owners can’t finance crucial transfers that the team needs, it would be crazy to even give 1/3 of the 20M for Dest.

There are many free players in primavera who can warm the bench at first team. Why did they put money in Adli, Vranckx, Thiaw when they don’t play?

No sh*t. Barca’s main problem is their wage bill and once they offloaded Dest’s this summer they kept adding more players on big wages. They will not have room to take him back and Milan should be able to get him for half the previous amount if they want to make it permanent. Otherwise, Barca will be stuck trying to offload him again. This isn’t complicated.
Play him and then you wont have to worry about anything. He is an awesome talent. Amazing dribbling skills. Total teammate. He needs a chnace to play everyday. Before Xavi came in he was playing everyday. He started with Messi. He played great, and Barca did great. Xavi comes in and messes with Dest’s life by not playing him.
