Mediaset: Milan abandon Onyedika pursuit and focus on loan move for Bundesliga midfielder

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have decided to focus their efforts on signing Aster Vranckx from Wolfsburg as they continue to push for a new midfielder, a report claims.

Claudio Raimondi told SportMediaset (via MilanNews) that the Raphael Onyedika idea has been abandoned as time is running out and FC Midtjylland are continuing to ask for at least €10m to sell the 21-year-old, which the management deem to be too much.

That is why the focus is now on Aster Vranckx, a 19-year-old Belgium U21 international who is currently plying his trade at Wolfsburg, where he broke through last season after a move from KV Mechelen in his home country.

He is a midfielder that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are working to bring in on loan but at the moment it is difficult as the Bundesliga club do not want to let him leave on a temporary basis, but negotiations are underway.

  1. It just keeps getting worse. It’s embarassing now. What is this, option 5 now? Another teenager that is not going to help the club win now. Milan still behaving like a mid table club.

    1. Yes, embarassing that a club refuses to pay the demands by the selling club so move onto different targets! Every club in the world must be truly embarrassed since this happens all the time. Not embarassing at all, just business as usual.

    2. What’s really embarassing is that you believe every rumour about every transfer. If Milan would have signed every player that was mentioned suring this mercato, we would have a 70 player squad. We’re not paying 10 million for a prospect that still has to prove himself on the highest level. It’s that simple. The problem is that many clubs think when a big club is calling, they can ask a lot more. Let’s see for what price Onyedika eventually moves clubs and judge afterwards is Milan was right not to raise their offer. What’s clear is that Milan has a scouting team that keeps an eye on a lot of young talents. It’s not embarassing at all that not every one of them will join us. We’re only buying at the right price.

      1. Right!
We can’t churn out whatever price is placed on players by the selling club.
It’s simply not done because there are always other options.

My only hope is that we scout for a RW, a young but really good one

    1. Perhaps then you should consider supporting a different club seeing as a mere rumour has you criticizing a club you theoretically support.

  2. As a Dane who follows the Danish Superliga, I can tell you that Onyedika is nowhere NEAR good enough for AC Milan. Aster Vranckx is better and younger. Much more promise for the future and, given his experience from Germany, he will be able to help us from day one more than Onyedika

  3. Doom & Gloom, Doom & Gloom, Doom & Gloom, oh my god we got a draw in round two, we’re fvcked, relegation in sight!!!

    It’s really amazing…

    1. Ikr I don’t know what’s more pathetic the milanisti who have already given up or the merdaristi who are making fun of Milan when they needed a 95th winner to beat Lecce
