Reports claims Milan admire Sporting CP midfielder wanted by Spurs and Newcastle

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of several Serie A sides interested in signing Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte ahead of the summer, a report claims.

According to a report in the Portuguese newspaper O Jogo 0 which cites NumeroDiez – Ugarte’s impressive performances for Sporting have not gone unnoticed as they have made a good run in the Europa League, knocking out Arsenal on penalties in the last 16 earlier this month.

As per the source, there are a number of Premier League sides keen on signing the 21-year-old including Leeds United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Tottenham and Wolves, but two Serie A sides are also keen in Milan and Roma.

Both the Rossoneri and the Giallorossi have been left impressed by the Uruguay international and in particular his ‘drive’. Milan director Paolo Maldini has highlighted the name of the midfielder on his agenda and he has been marked as a target for that role.

  1. He is 21 years old and has a contract lasting to 2026 and currently holds a valuation of 25 mil on transfermarkt and considering he has several suitors i would expect a future sale would end up at minimum 40 mil and maybe even 50 so it would seem like an unlikely aquisition unless the ownership actually plans to splash some cash this coming summer
