FotbollDirekt: Milan eyeing €6m Malmo defender as potential Botman alternative

By Oliver Fisher -

It looks like AC Milan have finally missed out on Sven Botman as the Lille defender has chosen Newcastle United, so now the search for an alternative target begins.

There is still the need to sign a new defender given that Alessio Romagnoli is set to depart on a free transfer. Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu have proven to be a very reliable pairing, and Simon Kjaer will return after six months of injury, but another profile of quality is needed given the Serie A and Champions League commitments.

The are some rumours that have surfaced claiming that Anel Ahmedhodzic is once again a target for Milan. He played for Bordeaux last season on a loan with option to buy deal from Malmo but given they were relegated, they will not use that option.

According to reports from the Swedish source FotbollDirekt (via PianetaMilan), he could become a concrete target for the Rossoneri to shore up the defence and he would cost only around €6m.

Ahmedhodžić played 15 times for Bordeaux in Ligue 1 last season and is only 22 years of age, but he is also being linked with Blackburn Rovers where Jon Dahl Tomasson has just taken charge.
