Moretto: Milan could sign another midfielder even if Jashari arrives

AC Milan are hoping to wrap up the signing of Ardon Jashari from Club Brugge soon, and he might not be the last midfielder to arrive.

As it stands the movement in the department has seen Tijjani Reijnders leave for Manchester City, with Luka Modric and Samuele Ricci set to arrive from Real Madrid and Torino respectively as part of a midfield rebuild.

Milan hope that the next piece they add will be Jashari, whom they have been in negotiations over for a couple of weeks now. The most recent development was a bid worth €38m being launched, which would make him a record sale for the Juliper Pro League.

Jashari not the final piece?

Speaking on YouTube, Matteo Moretto confirmed that Jashari strongly wants Milan. There is already a total agreement between Jashari and the Rossoneri, this is a given, considering the pressure Jashari is putting on Brugge to go to Milan.

He has stated it multiple times: ‘I want to go only to Milan, I want to go to Milan’. The directors want to unblock the negotiation for the Swiss international, and they have finalised the arrival of Ricci.

However, they also ‘want another midfielder’, and it’s not ruled out that another one could arrive, especially in the event of departures.

  1. I call BS, if it’s not some free agent (Thomas Partey comes to mind and he might be a good acquisition) or super cheap option like Caviglia (although Fazzini was just there and now he’s at Fiorentina)…

We need 40-50M (Theo + Musah money) for fullbacks (Dodo and MdC are good choices), Thiaw money and Liberalli will get us Leoni, we still need ST and LW… I don’t see us splashing on CM/CDM

    1. Nice,

      Selling:
      Musah €30m
      Theo €25m
      Total €55m

      Buy:
      Dodo €25m
      MdC €20m
      Leoni €25m
      Total €70m

We will only need €15m to add to (Theo + Musah money) to complete these three deals.

      1. we still have royal, morata, beni, oka, pobega on sell-list & it’s early, who knows maybe some PL clubs will come w/ good offer for thiaw/ tomo/ rlc so 15-25m isn’t that diff i think

      2. I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble but transfers do not work like the way everyone puts it here, it is all down to the payment structure and not as simple as 1+2=3

Premiership clubs such as MUFC will get £60m in and buy £120m worth of players by putting down £20m each for 3 separate players.

I always assumed this was known to everyone but on a regular basis you see everyone saying we will sell for €30m and then pass €30m to another team and get the player we want

        1. Hello Malik,

There was no where I mentioned the payment structure obviously.

If you follow this blog, you would know I am at the fore front for instalmental payments and have on several occasions lauded Man Utd financial handlers as astute. It makes no sense educating me in what I educate you everyday.

In business negotiations, you bargain based on what’s on the table, if we are receiving payments in instalments, we simply negotiate to also pay for our purchases in instalments. How about that?

The mentions are €55m in revenue and €70m expenditure, which could cancel out each other between 1-3 years maybe and after that is done, the deal will require additional €15m to balance it.

I don’t like to go the educational rout all the time, but the reason some of us say sell this and buy this without saying instalments is because we understand accounting treatment using Accrual methods.
You should do a research on Accrual methods for better context of my statement.

      3. Leoni won’t come in unless one of the other CBs is sold, and coincidentally selling one of the other CBs will cover Leoni’s fee. Thiaw is rumored to be on the block for 25M, which is also the price quoted for Leoni. So one in, one out. Until then Musah + Theo = 55M covers an LB, RB, and importantly a backup LB at your prices (LB at 20M, RB at 25M and backup LB at 10M). And there are still Morata, Okafor, Royal, Bennacer, Adli and Pobega to offload.

        1. Well, to start with, obviously I know there are tons of players to offload, relax. My comments were directly in response to the Theo and Musah transfer and how we can utilise the funds without necessarily selling Thiaw.

I feel Thiaw will turn out great with a steady coach like Allegri, however, I still want the purchase of Leoni.
I would give Thiaw out on loan to a top side first, but quite frankly, I must confess, haven’t really watched Leoni play, I hope he’s good since everyone has a good review of him, but bar some silly mistakes by Thiaw, I think with proper guidance, he will be a very solid defender, he has the size and physicality, he just needs to refine his technique, he has all the raw materials to be great.

      4. Only problem there is that Leoni will cost 35 to 40 million so there is a 25 million gap minimum. Thats why they need to sell Thiaw or Tomori first.

  2. Can we please sign some defenders? If Thiaw leaves, we’re literally gonna be stuck with the three worst CBs in the league. We’re also not doing to well at the full-backs positions, especially now that Theo is gone. All we have is Jimenez, that’s it…

    1. We absolutely need defensive reinforcements — at least 1 CB, 1 RB, and 1–2 LBs. I don’t agree that our CBs are “the worst in the league.” They’ve been inconsistent, yes, but all have had solid performances. We conceded 43 goals — just 8 more than 4th-place Juve — and a lot of that was down to poor chemistry and, more so, our fullbacks (including Theo), who were defensively shaky, especially early on. Even Maignan had a few off games. Plus, our double pivot lacked a true No. 6 — Reijnders is an attacking 8, and Fofana, while defensively strong, is more box-to-box. So far we’ve addressed the No. 6 position with Jashari and Ricci.

      1. 100%… i was saying this the whole season!

poor fullbacks and no CDM was bound to backfire… plus more in possesion style

      2. “I don’t agree that our CBs are ‘the worst in the league.’” But you’re saying we need 1 more CB? Doesn’t make sense. We currently have 4 for 2 spots. That’s normal, plus Bartesaghi who can be an emergency 5th. We’re not playing 70 games next season.

    2. We have Jimenez and Saelmaekers as RB and Bartesaghi as LB right now. They will sign two starters as LB and RB as Tare have stated, and have Bartesaghi and Saelesmaekers as backups.

Then move up Jimenz as backup to either Leao or Pulisic depending on who of Okafor and Chuckwueze that leaves ^^

  3. Whilst I’d be happy to see a leader like Xhaka arrive too, we really need to move on some of the existing players to make space before we make any more moves in midfield. Whilst we have Pobega, Adli, RLC, Musah, Terraciano and Bondo, as well as Ricci, Fofana, Modric and maybe Jashari, we have too many and no leverage when it comes to negotiating exits with other clubs.

    1. Alegri is be as going as crazy if he be uses Fofana much then 4 mins a match … Dont eeally think he will fit fofana without players as Mbappe , Kalulu and Salah

    1. Depends if Allegri intends to play a 4-2-3-1 or not, because if he plays a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-2-1 or a 3-5-2, then an attacking midfielder is not needed.
An idea would also be to make us of a deep lying playmaker, Modrić could do that, maybe Ricci as well and perhaps Adli if we decide to bring him back.

      1. My impression is that it’s going to be a 4-3-3, with a regista, so the two outside midfielders will be in box-to-box roles, but occupied by midfielders who are much more defensively capable than Reijnders was, or similar style players. That regista is probably Modric and the two outside probably Ricci and Jashari. So in possession it will look like a 4-1-2-3, and if the fullbacks push up a little to be in line with Modric, on the pitch it would even look like 2-3-2-3 in possession. This also makes sense for mobility purposes, as Modric playing in the middle means less ground to cover.

  4. Not sure why we need another midfielder playing once a week.
Modric, Ricci, Fofana, Bondo, RLC and Jashari if he comes…

    1. Modric & Jash more of creative MF,
while Fofana, Ricci, Bondo & RLC is muscle MF, i think if RLC (sell) or Bondo (loan) out we need a creative MF as replacement, i’ll be glad enough if it’s Liberali or someone better
