Giornale: Milan have Arsenal defender on wish list amid rumours of €30m bid

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan must now begin consulting their list of alternative targets as Sven Botman is Newcastle-bound, with Arsenal’s William Saliba reportedly an option.

Having not landed Botman, Milan are looking for alternatives to shore up the defence and replace Alessio Romagnoli numerically, given that he is out of contract at the end of the month and is therefore destined to depart on a free transfer.

Il Giornale (via MilanNews) report that Milan are happy to put their faith in Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer after the excellent way that they ended last season, while also waiting for the return of Simon Kjaer.

The management are therefore looking for a younger centre-back who has the potential to grow, and William Saliba is the name launched specifically by the paper. The 21-year-old Frenchman is owned by Arsenal but played on loan at Marseille last season, playing 36 times for them in the league, and there are rumours of the Ligue 1 club submitting a bid worth €25-30m (via RMC).

  1. Lol please no. Just renew Romagnoli. Stop wasting budget. IMO it’s either Bremer or Romagnoli. The rest just don’t bother.

  2. He’s really good, one of the best defenders in the French league this season, if not the best (that’s right, in Botman’s and Renato’s league). He hasn’t had luck in Arsenal so far but he would be a great signing for Milan, better than Botman’s IMO, and I feel Arsenal might even be open to a loan.

  3. Sorry, Arsenal aren’t selling him. Even if we are to sell, it will be 40million pounds upwards. Can Milan afford him?
