Tuttosport: Milan asking Nkunku to ‘replace’ Leao – what Allegri wants from him

Christopher Nkunku’s start to life at AC Milan has not gone as anyone would have hoped. However, the Frenchman is not completely out of it.

The attacker has certainly got bags of ability, and there are signs that he can be important for Milan. So far, though, he has failed to really show it, barring a few glimpses of quality.

He has certainly not been helped by recent reports suggesting that he has arrived without the wish of Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare, with it being reported that Giorgio Furlani got the deal through, thanks to his relations with Chelsea.

Nkunku’s task

This weekend, he is once again set to be a starter, but this is due to Rafael Leao’s injury. So, the Rossoneri are asking the Frenchman to ‘replace’ the star, as Tuttosport reports.

In recent years, his scoring numbers have been better than Leao’s, and whilst he cannot replicate him exactly, hopefully, he can match his impact. It is in everyone’s best interest for his first Serie A goal to arrive tomorrow.

He’s not a centre-forward, but neither is Leao. So, tomorrow’s job is a simple one, be effective and help the team, perhaps with a goal, but with his performance if nothing else.

  1. Hindsight’s 20/20 I guess but at this point we may as well have saved 38mil and kept Okofor to “replace” Leao in moments like these…

    1. Nothing to do with hindsight. This is some rogue executive that knows nothing of football making signings that the football men at the club did not sanction. It does nothing but create tension and waste money we don’t have to waste. Furlani needs to be fired, or at the very least removed from making any transfer decisions whatsoever beyond approving the overall transfer budget.

      1. Agree. I guess Ghost Rider could’ve torn the place up when he arrived and we’d all be lauding their decision now but if it were up to me I’d have saved money and just kept at least one of Okofor, Jovic, or Abraham…

    2. Okafor actually had amazing stats for his debut season in Milan. Who knows if he could have repeated it this season with. At least he couldn’t have done worse than Nkunku…

    1. no because that is an offensive formation (which I do like) when our entire philosophy is defensive minded and it is currently working. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
