GdS: Milan ready to go all-in on €25-30m Brazilian midfielder as Sanches nears PSG

By Oliver Fisher -

With the Renato Sanches pursuit increasingly complicated, Douglas Luiz has become one of the main targets for AC Milan in their search for a midfielder.

La Gazzetta dello Sport write how the Brazilian is different to Sanches in characteristics given that he plays at the base of the midfield and is more known for breaking up play as opposed to going on ball-progressing runs and even sometimes playing as a playmaker like the Portuguese.

In some areas he resembles Franck Kessie such as in physical condition and tackles he wins, but there are differences such as runs into the box and overall touches in the opponent’s area, given he is a deeper-lying presence.

The 24-year-old won the Olympic gold in Tokyo with the Seleçao, and has been a starter at Aston Villa for three seasons. In fact out of 114 games available, he has only missed 11, scoring 5 goals and adding 3 assists. The last injury dates back to the 2018-19 season at Girona in LaLiga, on loan from Manchester City.

All that means he costs at least €25-30m, but he is under contract for just one more year which means there might just be an opportunity to pounce, especially if Villa sense it will be their last summer to cash in.

Milan are ready to move all-in and Luiz could be yet another Brazilian to find home at Milanello. Junior Messias has just won the Scudetto while in the past there is the likes of Serginho, Cafu, Kakà, Dida, Ronaldinho, Leonardo, Thiago Silva, Robinho and Pato.

  1. I am now more worried, about Maldini and Massara situation.. We can’t be rest assured, as long as they don’t renew….

  2. All these rumour mills are just there to entice the fans but it does not carry any weight. I pray thee that Massara and Maldini renew their contracts so that we are able to sign at least Assensio or Ziyech, De Ketelaere etc.

Lets keep our fingers crossed and get the authentic news about the Rossoneri from the most trusted Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio

  3. The total ammount (transfer fee + salary) that was rumored for Sanches is less than 35m. This new rumour is ridiculous.

  4. I am Ac milan funs from Nigeria and I like to be there someday because I really love my Club and you people should take me in

  5. Our main Focus should be on Maldini and Massara renewal,if we done with them they’ll get us any player that we want to buy
And is there any WhatsApp group for we the Milanese

  6. 114 games, 5 goals and adding 3 assists??? Compared to him Gattusso is then more like a Ronaldinho!!!

    We don’t need crap players.

What a disaster is this new american ownership!!! Borman is gone, Renato Snaches almost, no Maldini and Massara renewal yet, and they want to buy crap player for 30 million???

I am sure fans of Cremonese, Lecce or Pesaro will have more joy with their clubs this year then AC Milan fans.

  7. I think Milan should find the 1 AMC for 1st choice & RW or ST 1st choice. Because Origi might be good enough to be a RW like he ever did at Liverpool.

For double pivot, I think its pretty ideal with : Tonali, Bennacer, Pobega, & Adli. Because Pobega might push his place over Bennacer. It will be tough season for Bennacer.

And for Defenders, it’s the least thing i worry about. Remember Milan Defenders was the best at 2021/2022. Luckily we found Tomori – Kalulu was so strong. Remember 38th matches vs Sassuolo when Romagnoli get in for Kalulu ? And it showed how good Kalulu is as Milan’s CB, because Romagnoli struggled a lot. This Milan’s Pioli need aggressive CBs not covering-style CBs like Romagnoli. And we have : Tomori, Kalulu, Kjaer, Gabbia. Yes we need Gabbia as 4th CBs because for ECL’s regulation for 4 Home Grown Players. And 4th CBs usually had very little playing times.

  8. It will br good if we get Noa Lang, de ketelaere and dybala. If we get those 3 we can be a threat to any team in champions league
