Giornale: Milan want to avoid same scenario as Inter and Juve by securing two big renewals

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are keen on extending the contract of both Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu as they look to avoid the situations Inter and Juventus have found themselves in.

According to Il Giornale (via MilanNews), Milan have an eye on the fact that Inter are having to sell Milan Skriniar while Juventus look set to lose De Ligt to Bayern Munich which will weaken their respective defensive options.

The Rossoneri management not only want to hold on to their own prized young centre-backs, but they are also ready to lock down both Tomori and Kalulu with the renewal of their contracts at the club.

No terms are mentioned, but it would certainly be a positive and proactive move given that the Englishman and the Frenchman were a big part of the Scudetto win, especially after Stefano Pioli’s side ended the season with 9 clean sheets in their last 11 Serie A games, conceding only twice.

  1. Avoid same scenario as Inter and Juve? Or just avoid the situation Milan encountered last year with Hakan and Donnarumma?

    1. Avoiding situation with whom?

Excessive salary demanding playmaker with scudetto curse?

Certain goalkeeper that been replaced by better goalkeeper?

      1. Talking about the financial side here, Buddy. I agree with you that the team ended better of without them. But an enormous flow of financial benefit was lost.

        1. You guys always complain. Should Milan do what PSG did with Mbappe when they didn’t want to lose him for free to Real Madrid? You can’t help some things. Pogba has gone to Juve on a free transfer. There was nothing Man Utd could do about it. Shitanoglu and Dollarumma did what they wanted to do and they’re gone. Jessie did the same. The club even tried selling him in January to Tottenham and he refused. Samu did the same thing, but thankfully he has finally left now for no fee. The only thing is Milan get to remove his high wage.

  2. I don’t know why Milan always talk about belotti…. Instead of signing dybala who play as winger or as a striker even Botman and Sanchez…..I don’t understand this American owner…..in modern day u want to pay good player’s 4 million per year.

  3. The point is that players need to be either locked by long-term contract, or plans have to be put in place to replace them if their salary demands are excessive.

I see nothing wrong in having a constant dialog with players and see if they want to keep growing with the team. Motivated players are more likely to have consistent performances.
