CM: Milan eye Spain international as Barcelona struggle with renewal – talks on with Mendes

By Oliver Fisher -

Confirmations have arrived after reports in Spain suggested that AC Milan are in the running to sign talented Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde.

Calcioemrcato.com report that Milan are keen on Balde, a left-back born in 2003 who has already amassed 3 assists in 12 appearances in LaLiga this season for Barcelona, demonstrating his immense potential.

This is not a recent pursuit for Milan though because two years ago the Rossoneri were actually very close to buying him, but things broke down right in the final phase of the negotiation.

In recent weeks, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have re-established contact with Balde’s agent, Jorge Mendes, but the negotiation certainly does not appear to be easy because Barcelona have been working for months on the renewal of his contract expiring in 2024.

However, the Blaugrana have so far found difficulties in reaching an agreement on Balde’s salary, and things could change given Luis Enrique gave the teenager his debut with the Spanish national team in their World Cup win over Costa Rica.

Milan remain in the running and hope to reach the finish line two years late, to finally secure a reliable alternative to Theo Hernandez.
