Tuttosport: Milan boosted in pursuit of World Cup star as Chelsea open to ideal formula

AC Milan know that they need to spread their attacking threat and that is why they are pursuing a deal to sign Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea, a report claims.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) write that Rafael Leao has been a key part of Milan’s success since the beginning of last season into the current campaign, but if the Portuguese winger fails to impact the game, the Rossoneri struggle. Four times this season the former Lille man didn’t convince in Serie A, and Milan didn’t win on all four occasions.

Milan’s management are looking to combat their Leao dependancy by signing a winger for the opposite side and Ziyech is back in fashion. After following him for a long time in the summer before turning to Charles De Ketelaere, the Moroccan’s name is now making a comeback.

Having a player like Ziyech in the squad would certainly allow Pioli to have an extra card to play when Leao isn’t available or is not decisive. The 29-year-old’s future will be decided after the World Cup, but this time his farewell to Chelsea appears very likely especially given that the Blues are pursuing forwards like Christopher Nkunku of RB Leipzig.

Ziyech has been impressing at the World Cup as he provided an assist for Morocco in their shock win over Belgium. The feeling is that – after numerous refusals previously – the London club will now decide to let Ziyech leave on loan with an option to buy, i.e. the formula that would suit Milan.
