MN: Milan working on closing Maignan-style operation for Botman – optimism over €30m deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are working hard to try and ensure that Sven Botman joins from Lille ahead of next season, according to a report.

Milan tried to sign Botman during the current January transfer window but Lille did not want to sell, though Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are now working to make sure they do not miss out on the Dutchman. MilanNews are reporting that Botman has always been the No.1 target but the French club requested very high amounts to let the player leave in January.

The Rossoneri’s strategy has evolved and there is a certain optimism that they can get a deal done ahead of the summer. Milan already have an agreement with the player who is happy to join ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Not only that, but it seems that negotiations with Lille are proceeding well. The operation should cost a total of €30m and it would be a Maignan-esque operation from Milan, moving ahead of time so they know they will have Botman available in the summer.
