CM: Newcastle make late €40m bid for Lille star who rejects move due to Milan interest

By Oliver Fisher -

Newcastle United launched another big offer for Lille defender Sven Botman but the player said no to the move, according to a report.

According to journalist Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Newcastle made a €40m offer for Botman last night as their search for a quality centre-back to help them in their fight against relegation continues, but once again it was not successful.

The Premier League side were in fact rejected by the Dutchman himself, who wants to choose the next move for his future from summer at the earliest. Longo adds that the 22-year-old is attracted by the strong interest of Milan, who are expected to go back in for him.

Calciomercato.com recently reported that Milan worked hard for weeks to try and sign Botman in the January transfer window, but are now ‘well on the way to reaching the finish line’ regarding a summer deal as there is already an agreement in principle over a four-year contract with the former Ajax defender, and a deal worth a potential €33m is being discussed.

    1. It’s not Milan fault the club didn’t want to sell. He even said so himself that he wanted to go but they didn’t want to sell him.
