CM: Milan struggling to turn chances into goals – four possible strikers for the future identified

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan dominated Salernitana during their game on Wednesday but they were once again lacking a clinical edge, all while the search for the striker of the future is already underway.

Calciomercato.com recall that Milan had 16 shots at the Stadio Arechi during their first game of 2023, with 10 on target and 8 saves made by Ochoa. Of the 13 goal scoring chances created, only 2 goals came and both were inside 15 minutes, and in the end the margin of victory was just one goal.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are looking for a new centre-forward who is younger than Olivier Giroud, but the hunt for a striker is aimed more at next summer than the winter transfer window.

The names at the top of the wish list are those of Noah Okafor (Red Bull Salzburg, contract until 2024), Lois Openda (RC Lens, contract until 2027) and Elye Wahi (Montpellier, contract until 2025).

Meanwhile, Porto’s Evanilson has been offered to the Rossoneri. The 23-year-old Brazilian will get a taste of playing at San Siro soon with Porto, Inter’s next opponent in the Champions League. Milan are in no hurry to find a new striker though, so priority now goes to the negotiations for the renewals of Giroud and above all Leao.
