Il Mattino: Milan and Chelsea left with regret as value of Napoli star hits €100m+

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is taking Serie A by storm and he has arguably been the player of the season so far in the league, leaving AC Milan with some regrets.

The Georgian winger already has 7 goals and 8 assists in 14 matches between Serie A and the Champions League, having exploded under Luciano Spalletti’s guidance and attracting speculation that his stay in Naples could be brief.

This morning’s edition of Il Mattino (via MilanLive) reports that Aurelio De Laurentiis knows he has struck a brilliant deal for Kvaratskhelia, who he bought for €10m but could now ask for €100m+ to sell.

It is a regret for the teams who followed him but chose not to close the deal, with Milan mentioned alongside Udinese, Lazio and Chelsea as having held an interest. The newspaper adds that Kaladze had recommended him to the Rossoneri, but they chose not to pursue him because of Rafael Leao holding the same role.

    1. Hey the way some of these teams throw money around, especially in EPL, it’s not crazy to think that will go for 100 mil.
Dembele got sold for 140 mil after only 1 good season in Dortmund.
Kvara is very good though. If Milan ends up losing Leao , they will regret not spending 10 mil on Kvara

    2. He wasn’t bad in previous teams either. He’s the real deal and not a one-season-wonder. You can see it in everything he does.

Kvaradona is by far the best player in the league – no questions asked.

      1. No question? Leao has same goal contributions in one less game. Let’s all calm down and see what he does for the entirety of the season.

      2. LOL you have to be maradona to have GOOD STATS in Georgian league,in Russia he was nothing special and didnt go over 3 goals any season

      3. bb that’s a funny joke, apparently doing well in stinky leagues means you’re the real deal, therefore I must be the upcoming Messi with 500 goals in my garden

  1. I love when this happens. I remember when El Shaarawy was going off for Milan years ago. Until people figured out how to defend him. Then his career went in the toilet.

    1. El Shaarawy was never on the same level as Kvaratskhelia is right now. Overrated player that was the first face of the banter era. Couldn’t, and still can’t, use his left foot even if his life dependent on it.

  2. Easy it’s been only (less than) one season. Surely next season many of the Serie A teams and defenders know better how to defend againts him.

  3. The Georgian winger was recommended to us by Kaladze. Some of us commented here and said he is a steal. His price was at that moment 14 million. Given the presence of Leao (Rebic) and our well known low budget we ignored him. It comes with no surprise his good performance. It is what it is, now. He would have been a great replacement for Leao. He is a great player. I don’t think these are just accidental displays from him. Probably he will be sold for over 100 millions to PL, PSG etc

  4. Napoli have largely beaten lesser teams this season – often luckily or at the death. They beat us when they should’ve lost. They beat Liverpool when they were pure shite. I really don’t get this hype over Napoli and this Georgian guy when we’re only in October sheesh.

  5. I understand maldini not buying him. If he did, thats like a third of the budget lol, and if he dosnt play well, then you’d all come here and say WTF was he thinking, spending 10-15M on a youth project. he also dosn’t fit in the team because leao refuses to play well up top.

  6. 100M may be a bit crazy at this early stage and say what you want about people overreacting; but this dude is the REAL DEAL. He has speed, strength, intelligence, aggressiveness and can finish in a variety of ways; he doesn’t always selfishly shoot but rather makes the right play passing the ball to a teammate if the teammate has a higher chance of scoring than him.
