AC Milan have not been pursuing a deal for Hakim Ziyech with Chelsea for nearly three weeks, putting to bed any chances of late drama.
Throughout deadline day thus far there have been many fans speculating that there could be a late twist involving Ziyech given that he has been extensively linked throughout the window and a return to Ajax was on then off the cards.
According to what is being reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan in fact decided to give up Ziyech 20 days ago and as a result we cannot expect any last-minute drama involving the Moroccan.
In the end, it seems that the chances were killed when Junior Messias was bought on a permanent deal coupled with the fact few (or even zero) offers arrived for Alexis Saelemaekers that were worthy of being accepted.
However, he adds that Sergino Dest will come in from Barcelona to strengthen not only the right-back role but also further up the pitch too.
Fabrizio Romano on his deadline day show said that Milan was interested in Ziyech in June on loan. But after Chelsea allowed Lukaku to go back to Inter on loan, they decided no more players will be let to leave on loan. Either a sale or they will stay.
When he was asked how much was Chelsea asking for Ziyech, Romano said 30-35mil. That’s why not just Milan bit also Ajax and ManUtd didn’t want him .
So all that nonsense that Milan can get Ziyech for cut price 8-10 mil was just another media invention.
The guy is 30, flopped at Chelsea and he costs 30-35 mil plus wants 6mil a season salary.
No thanks. You are not that good. Outside of Ajax he has done nothing. And a lot of players look great in Ajax system.
At least Dest is young & on a trial bases. If he doesn’t work out , you just send him back to Barca
I do not get your issues with Zyiech, even the great shevchenko didn’t do well at Chelsea, look at kulusevki and bentacur who are now the key to Tottenham team were on e rejects in Juventus, sometimes it just doesn’t work but it doesn’t mean the player is bad.
Zyiech is a very good ayer and would have been a tremendous upgrade to what we have, and if Redbird was incharge then, you never know , he might have been a Milan player, salary and transfer fee are all negotiable but the truth was that we were all in for CDK and we spent most of our budget on him.
I’m sorry did you just compare Shevchenko with Ziyech?
Shevchenko was a Ballon d’or winner and one of the best players and strikers of his generation before he went to Chelsea at 30 after a back surgery to play for a coach that didn’t want him.
Ziyech played for Ajax, that dominates Hollands league, and unlike the rest of the Ajax players who leave at 21,22 he didn’t leave till he was 27,28. Then he went to Chelsea and flopped.
I would take him over Saelemakers and Messias but not for 35 mil fee on a 6 mil salary
