Sky: ‘Everything put on hold’ – Milan seeking to clarify ‘balance of power’ within management

Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano has revealed some of the details regarding the complex internal dynamics at AC Milan and why certain moves are on hold.

Footmercato published a worrying recent report suggesting that the Milan management are ‘more than ever divided into several camps’, with different visions on how to move forward.

Whether it is on the future of Sérgio Conceição, the sporting director to choose or the plan for the future, Giorgio Furlani and Zlatan Ibrahimović are ‘tearing each other apart’.

That may have seemed a tad dramatic and though no denials were received, further information has come to light which paints a rather grim picture about the state of things within the hierarchy.

Di Stefano did a segment live on Sky and provided an update on the situation related to Milan’s future planning including the hiring of a new sporting director. His comments were relayed by MilanNews.

“Yesterday Giorgio Furlani left for the United States, as anticipated by Luca Bianchin. Furlani is the CEO of Mian and last week he did not participate with Cardinale and Ibrahimovic in London in the meetings with the three possible candidates for the position of new sporting director of Milan, namely Berta  who however is destined for Arsenal, Tare and Paratici.

“Furlani left for the USA, it is said, in the company of two trusted men, probably two lawyers, to reach Gerry Cardinale and try to rebalance Milan and therefore the balance of power within the club, to understand who has and will have more weight in the choices.

“Ibra and Cardinale have already chosen Tare as the new sporting director, but probably not everyone has the OK yet. It was already understood when, before Lazio, Furlani himself had underlined his centrality within the Milan world, burdens and honours, and speaking in general, reiterating that the last word belongs to him, who is the CEO.

“And here the same old story comes back into fashion: on one side the Cardinale sphere with Ibrahimovic (the American’s sole point of reference for what concerns the sporting part), on the other the Elliott sphere with Furlani, a numbers man who in recent years with careful management has put Milan back on track from a financial point of view.

“I believe that at the moment everything has been put on hold, I’m talking about technical issues such as the choice of the new sporting director, the possible future coach and the summer mercato. First, the balance of power within the Rossoneri club will have to be decided and rebalanced.

“These will therefore be delicate days and weeks. If there are differences, they must be clarified and an internal balance must be found. Because without harmony it will be difficult to build a winning Milan.”

  2. The plan should be:
1-Bring a big garbage bag, the biggest you can find.
2-Add those three clowns with Cardinale in the bag
3-Throw that garbage in the garbage can 🚮
4-Bring Maldini 👑 with a proven SD and top manager preferably Italian.

All other plans will be like putting lipstick on a pig.

    1. The plan should be.
      1. create a plan. lol . Our mess is because we have no plan. We have some players fit for a 4-3-3, some fit better a 4-2-3-1 and a coach who loves 4-4-2 but not a full squad to be balanced in any.

    1. Furlani represents Elliott so probably they have hidden clause…lawyers are there to remind jerry who is the big daddy here!!!

      1. Yes, you right m. Loan + interest from Elliott already 700 million, now elliot is the big majority owner.

Furlani: “the decision maker should be me, i am being back by hidden powerful elliot, everybody should bow down to me.”

  3. Oh the fight has finally begun. Elliott + Foolani vs. Gerry + Ibra. Moncada the remnant of Maldini’s era. The club is so divided at the top level.

    1. When situations good (qualifying for champions league), someone can agree with everyone.

But, when situations become worst (not qualifying for champion league, even europe). Everybody show their fang, i want more power, i want to revolutionize this milan.

Moncada doesn’t have fang, he is alone in the corner with his smile.

    1. Doesn’t seem like Gerry owns Milan. Feels like Elliot still owns it and hired RedBird to run it and build the stadium for an eventual all out sale.

It does seem like the “sale” to RedBird was just a front. Hence, Furlani lawyering up and flying out to see Gerry.
