CorSport: Milan closing in on summer 2023 signing as player gives green light

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are using the break for the World Cup to try and make progress on fixing the squad, with a signing now very close to being secured.

Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) writes that among the objectives for next season is the signing of a new goalkeeper because Ciprian Tatarusanu and Antonio Mirante are on expiring deals and there is a distinct possibility that the 36-year-old Romanian will not renew.

Milan seem to be planning for his exit because talks are on with the entourage of Marco Sportiello, who is also on an expiring deal with Atalanta and therefore could arrive on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old would accept a transfer to Milan and over the next few weeks Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will work with his agents to agree terms. Sportiello has made 6 appearances in Serie A this season, conceding 7 goals.

It is worth noting that he is a player that Stefano Pioli knows well given that in the 2017-18 season he played on loan at Fiorentina, where his coach was Pioli, so the two could meet again at Milan.

  1. The best thing is for Milan to sign him in January, release Tataransu, and proceed to improve the squad by selling off injury prone Florenzi and Kjaer who honestly is slow for the type of football Milan play, our defence with him is fragile, even our build ups are affected, we already have Calabria,Dest and Kalulu in his position, any addition we make, we should try and get Italian players..
