MN: Versatility, experience and an opportunity – Milan have concrete interest in PSG outcast

By Oliver Fisher -

A concrete idea has emerged for the role of centre-back as AC Milan have reignited their interest in signing Abdou Diallo from Paris Saint-Germain.

MilanNews reports that after the Sven Botman disappointment, the Rossoneri will have the task of turning to new targets and Diallo is one of them. He played just 16 games for a total of 1222 minutes for PSG last season and the Parisians – after having bought him from Borussia Dortmund in 2019 – seem willing to sell him, despite the fact that he still has a two-year contract.

Milan tried for him in the January window but a deal between the Rossoneri and PSG never went through as Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara decided to focus on Botman, and then decided to wait until the summer for him too.

Diallo could be an ideal profile for the Rossoneri as he is left-footed, quite fast and versatile given that he can be used as a left-back too. He could be a complimentary element to add to Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia in the defensive core.

Given that he has Champions League experience and shouldn’t be too expensive, Diallo could be the right man to provide cover with three competitions on the agenda and a very tight schedule to come in 2022-23.
