Tuttosport: Milan confident heading into the summer with double swoop lined up

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan chose not to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window, and instead will proceed with confidence towards the summer market.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes that the only signing made in January was 18-year-old striker Marko Lazetic, who has a high ceiling but was ultimately brought in to replace Pietro Pellegri and therefore cannot be counted as a move to add concrete quality to the squad.

Therefore, the winter market closed without a significant purchase but the feeling is that the Rossoneri have laid some interesting foundations in view of the summer mercato. Lille duo Sven Botman and midfielder Renato Sanches are both targets, with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara trying to convince the French club to sell in January, eventually settling for the idea of trying to secure them for June.

If Milan were to hit the seasonal target – that is to qualify for the Champions League – then the directors know they have bigger budget at their disposal and consequently could accelerate for the Dutch defender and the Portuguese midfielder.
