GdS: Milan have initiated contact with Roma for Zaniolo

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have initiated contact with Roma to see if they can sign Italian forward Nicolo Zaniolo this summer, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are genuinely interested in Zaniolo and are making progress towards finding out if it is a serious possibility or not.

They have had indirect contacts with Roma today and the intermediaries are now working on the deal and seeing what the finances would be.

Roma certainly have no interest in losing the player that they have stood by during his two extremely serious knee injuries that kept him out for over a season.

If Milan can turn the head of the individual though, it will put pressure on Roma to cash in and move on.

It is not a deal that is anywhere close to completion but the dialogue is certainly open. He scored the winning goal in the Europa Conference League final last week.

    1. No concerns about two torn ACLs? The last thing we need, given the new financial model, is to spend the transfer and wage money on him to see him tear another ACL and be out for another year. I’m thinking of Ronaldo (R10)…

      1. R10 is Ronaldinho… R9 is el Phenomeno.

But yeah I get your point, even if management thinks Zaniolo is talented, his injury record isn’t worth the risk of a big outlay. I’d sign him for €30mn but no way Roma would sell him to us for that amount, I reckon they’ll ask for double.

  1. If we do get him it needs to be for 25-30m not 50 and he needs to be AM not RW. He’s an excellent AM and has all the grinta we need however as already said by everyone else he is an injury risk but he has stayed healthy all year so… who knows, definitely a risk but could be amazing if healthy. Really hard to judge this link
