CM: Milan agree €10m+ deal with Lille for Renato Sanches – the next step

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan never gave up on the signing of Renato Sanches and are now ready to launch another concrete bid, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com confirm that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been working to bring Sanches to Milan since December and have no intention of giving up because PSG’s expression of interest has not been backed up by an official bid.

The two Rossoneri directors have followed their strategy and have not lost patience despite agent Jorge Mendes changing the requests for salary on several occasions.

The Portuguese international is considered the ideal heir to Franck Kessie and a new bid has been launched worth €10m plus bonuses linked to team objectives. An agreement with the French club has been found, so now the next step is to strike a deal with Mendes which will include some commissions too.

Now, the goal is to bring the former Bayern Munich and Benfica midfielder to Milanello early next week.

  1. But now it’s has been said that Milan have agreed the 10m€ with Lille or which other Lille are you talking about..with this it’s more likely that sanches will be coming

    1. The same Lille that sold Botman. You know the one CB that Milan had agreeded everything with. The same that has been in the rumors for the whole year without nothing actually materializing.

Rumors,.. What are they good for? 🙂

      1. Botman and Sanches are 2 totally different cases.
Milan had agreement on personal terms with Botman but never with Lille. Lille had much higher offer & all the leverage because Botman had 3 more years left on his contract, so of course they told him either you can go to Newcastle ( who offered 10+mil above his value) or you gonna stay here.
Milan has had a deal with Lille for Sanches since January, but hasn’t agreed personal terms with the player. 10 mil is the appropriate amount because he is in his last contract year and he is often injured and unavailable. All of that influence the price. Lille has no leverage, if they don’t sell him now , he’ll either be sold for less in January or walk for free in June

  2. I don’t understand how slow are to buy players. This is a question that I can not give an answer… Don’t get me wrong I am a high fan of Maldini. But I don’t understand this situation.

  3. Honestly signing sanchez is a big plus ,set aside injury worries, that guy can bamboozel any midfielder in italy. He is a beast.
Buy sanchez, CDK and ziyech we are good to go.

  4. Calciomercato are…….. inconsistent (to be kind), but in this one the article and the headline don’t even match up. One says ‘agreed’, one says ‘bid has been launched’…

I mean, it’s calciomercato, so it’s as believable as Boris Johnson

  5. I still don’t understand why people keep writing that Sanches is an ideal replacement for Kessie. They’re very different players. Sanches plays more forward and his ability to deliver good penetrating through balls is a strength while his defending and tackling isn’t nearly as good as Kessie who was better playing back as a defensive midfielder in the double-pivot with either Bennacer or Tonali. We all remember how other than a couple of games, he wasn’t a success at the 10 position. But Sanches I think could play the 10 (though if we get CDK, Sanches would be on the bench IMO)… so Sanches, to me, is more of a backup player and maybe not worth going after all that hard (and we shouldn’t pay too much for him).

I love Bennacer and Tonali as our 2 defensive midfielders and don’t think Sanches should or would start over either of them. If we fail to get CDK, then Sanches is much more important to go after.

    1. Agree with most of what you said, but when Sanchez is in form, I think he’d be ahead of bennacer. Also, our actual kessie replacement is pobega, who has great physical.

      (I don’t understand his stats though…)
