AC Milan are in the market for a new left-back to become Theo Hernandez’s deputy and the belief is that Aaron Hickey of Bologna could be an ideal profile.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report how Hickey is in the sights of Milan as an alternative to Theo for the left flank where Fode Ballo-Toure has so far failed to convince. Milan need a quality back-up because of how important that role is in Stefano Pioli’s system, and the decision to replace Diego Laxalt with Ballo-Touré has so far backfired.
His last appearance for the Rossoneri was on December 19 against Napoli, and while he can console himself for having returned to Milanello as an African champion with Senegal he could be sold in the summer despite having a deal until 2025.
The name of Hickey emerged, an interesting profile that has been in the Rossoneri’s notebook for some time. He is a Scotland international and at 19 years of age he has become a starter for Sinisa Mihajlovic at Bologna, having already scored 4 goals this season.
The prospect of moving to a club to become a back-up may seem a backwards step for a teenage player, but playing in the Champions League and to compete for the Scudetto is a tempting step up.
Yes!!
No word of the price… I’m afraid that given the investment needed in other departments (CB, CM, RW) he’ll be too expensive for us. They wanted 8 million last summer, after this season it will be at least double, and we’ve already spent 5 million on Ballo.
Send Ballo to Bologna, that should reduce their asking price. But saying that he’s too pricey is not going to cut.
