Milan director Massara explains Kessie exclusion: “He failed to train at his best”

AC Milan’s sporting director Frederic Massara has revealed that Franck Kessie was left out of the squad for the game against Juventus as a ‘technical choice’.

The Ivory Coast international was left out of Stefano Pioli’s 21-man squad altogether, with ‘poor behaviour’ being cited as the reason for his exclusion.

The Rossoneri lost 1-0 against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday night, their ninth defeat in a row away against the Bianconeri in the league.

The defeat also represents Milan’s 7th in 12 games to begin the 2019-20 season, and the Diavolo are now languishing down in 14th position in the Serie A table.

Massara spoke to Sky Italia about Kessie’s current situation, and his words were transcribed by MilanNews.it.

“It is simply a technical choice. The coach saw that Kessie is experiencing a moment of fogging: this week he failed to train at his best and also had some ailments, so Pioli decided not to bet on him for this race, but we are convinced that Franck will be able to return the player very soon that we know,” he said.

Last week Tuttosport – as cited by MilanNews.it – claimed that Kessie has ‘several admirers’ around Europe and particularly in England.

The report stated that there are several Premier League clubs that have their eyes on the 22-year-old, who has been linked with Wolves recently as well as Arsenal and Spurs in the summer.
