CM: Milan planning exploratory talks with Icardi’s entourage – Pioli reunion possible

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are planning on holding some talks with the entourage of Mauro Icardi ahead of the summer window, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com write how Icardi was sent out on loan to Galatasaray for the season where he has rediscovered his confidence in a team where he has a leading role, having amassed 9 goals and 6 assists in 12 appearances in the league.

Galatasaray are understandably pushing to sign the Argentine permanently from PSG but at the moment the plans of Icardi are very different, because the desire to return to Italy is increasing inside him.

Icardi is sending some messages, albeit indirect, to Milan. He is aware that the Rossoneri will be looking for a new No.9 for next season given the age of Olivier Giroud and the inconsistency of Divock Origi.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have excellent relations with the player’s entourage and an exploratory chat will be held even if there are no contacts to date. Icardi has already worked with Stefano Pioli and has the characteristics that the club are looking for on the market.

It will be a situation that could develop in the coming weeks, but the 30-year-old knows that there is also the possibility of being able to free himself from his contract expiring in 2024 with PSG.

  1. I really hope this is just BS news. Also Icardi has 0 characteristics that the club is supposedly looking for in a striker. He’s is a completely different profile of what we have and from the other 9s we been linked to.
Icardi is a has been and all he is gonna bring is trouble

      1. I dunno. I’m not necessarily advocating for or against Icardi, but just to add some factual support to this conversation:

        Giroud- Strike Rate (goals/appearances)= .44; PPG (points per game)= 1.80; Minutes Per Goal= 164′

        Icardi- Strike Rate= .53; PPG= 1.79; Minutes Per Goal= 135′

        Source: Transfermarkt

So, Icardi scores more, and scores more often than Giroud. Then in terms of characteristics, what exactly are we looking for? Because Okafor has been mentioned, as has Thuram and now Scamacca. All three are different, with maybe Thuram and Scamacca being a little more similar to each other than Okafor. In the past we were also linked with Muani, who in my mind is more similar to Okafor. So it doesn’t really seem like we’re looking for a “type” so much as we’re looking for someone who can score. Icardi can certainly score.

        1. P.S., 54 of Giroud’s goals came in all competitions when he was playing in the French second and third divisions, including a 14 goal season in the Championnat National and a 21 goal season in Ligue 2, in contrast only 31 of Icardi’s goals came in all competitions when playing in Serie B and Primavera. So overall it could be said Icardi has scored more top level competition goals as well. Just saying….

        2. ok how about this one then.. icardi earns 12M a season at P$$$G

couldnt give a f less how many Icardi scored and how often. Giroud does so much more than just score goals.
I wouldnt have him in Milan in his prime and even less now. Lol
There is a reason he is playing in turkey atm

  2. Never been a fan of him, but to be fair his on goin season with Galatasary has been great. One year left on contract means that asking price will be further down. And bet his salary rate won’t be as high as he earns now (considering he was transferred around 70 mil back then, of course the salary rate will go along).

Imagine if he does well with Milan and we all know his hot n cold relation with Inter fans. That alone would be an interesting thought lol. Yet the trouble is not down to himself alone. Nara will go wherever he goes. That woman just doesn’t know when to keep her mouth shut.
