GdS: Milan’s slip goes unpunished but Pioli must find his attacking certainties again

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan slipped up against ‘bottom of the class’ on Saturday night as they only drew against Salernitana, but they remain at the top of the table as Inter and Napoli each failed to win.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports how Stefano Pioli will have to reorganise his ideas and try to solve the problems that held the team back during their long trip south to Salerno.

There were issues with the fluidity of the attack against a team that have been leaking a lot of goals so far this season, though Ante Rebic was finally able to get a goal after five months since his last one.

Brahim Diaz has been struggling for months now, having not registered a goal since the Spezia away game and being without an assist since the reverse fixture against Salernitana. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been out for a month, while Olivier Giroud alternates great matches like the ones in the derby and against Lazio with anonymous performances such as versus Sampdoria and Salernitana.

Rafael Leao and sometimes Junior Messias have stepped up to score and carry the attack, but the collective performance must grow in personality and must find their best rhythm again as the final 12 games beckon.
